Departing from the heart of Funchal, heading towards the majestic Pico do Arieiro, we will enjoy panoramic views of the city as we pass high points and winding trails within the lush Laurisilva forest. As we ascend to an altitude of 1,000 meters, we will be greeted by the invigorating scent of pine and fir trees, creating a magical atmosphere on the way to the Casa de Abrigo do Poiso, at 1,400 meters altitude. From Pico do Arieiro we will witness breathtaking views that will take our breath away before heading to the picturesque village of Ribeiro Frio, where we can enjoy a relaxing walk along the Levada dos Balcões (3€), immersed in the serenity of the Laurissilva Forest. Continuing our journey, we will explore the historical charms of the emblematic town of Santana, where we will pause to taste the authentic local cuisine during lunch (optional). The return to Funchal will be a pleasant drive along the east coast, with stops at the Guindaste viewpoint to capture unforgettable photographs. Next, we will visit the traditional village of Porto da Cruz, where we will have the opportunity to visit the renowned Engenho do Norte rum factory and taste its local cachaça. Finally, our journey will culminate at the breathtaking Ponta de São Lourenço, where we will enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and majestic mountains, ending our day on a high note.
