Description
We begin our daytrip from Porto or Greater Porto
Our first stop is the town of Barcelos, well known for its tale of the rooster and the ceramics. Barcelos is located on the pilgrimage way of St James. In this town you may opt to see the Pottery and Ceramics inthe tourist information office and/or the Pottery Museum, There is also a museum of arqueology and the Gardens of Barrocos.
Our next stop is the enchanting vila of Ponte de Lima, named after the Roman bridge over the Lima River. Legend has it that the roman soldiers were so enchanted by the beauty of this place that they refused to cross the river. The town is known for its gastronomy. While here you may visit the Tematic gardens on the other side of the river, the Museu dos Terceiros and the local Parish Church. Ponte de lima is known as Portugal's most floral town. The International Garden Festival is held here between May and October.
Our last stop on our way back to Porto is braga , known to be a religiious centre. where you can visit the Braga cathedral, the town centre , the Biscainhos museum (if time permits) and the Bom Jesus Basilica .
