Built by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries. It played a key role in the Reconquista. Christian forces took it after Lisbon fell in 1147. Classified as a National Monument. Part of the Sintra Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You might like to visit Quinta da Regaleira or Monserrate Palace. # Quinta da Regaleira, a mysterious palace near Sintra's center. Built in the early 20th century, it's a blend of Gothic, Manueline, and Renaissance styles. Explore its lush gardens and don't miss the Chapel of the Holy Trinity with its secret initiation well. # Monserrate Palace, is indeed renowned for its exotic gardens and eclectic architecture.
