# Palácio da Pena (Pena Palace), is a stunning example of 19th-century architecture in Portugal. Built on the Monte da Pena, it replaced an old monastery. Dom Fernando of Saxe Coburg-Gotha, who married Queen Dona Maria II in 1836, dreamt up this palace after falling in love with Sintra. He bought the land to create a summer getaway for the royal family. The palace blends Portuguese architectural styles like neo-Gothic and neo-Manueline with neo-Islamic and neo-Renaissance influences and surrounded by a beautiful park with exotic trees.
# Moorish Castle, is a hilltop medieval castle in Sintra. Built by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries. It played a key role in the Reconquista. Christian forces took it after Lisbon fell in 1147. Classified as a National Monument. Part of the Sintra Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You might like to visit Quinta da Regaleira or Monserrate Palace.
# Quinta da Regaleira, a mysterious palace near Sintra's center. Built in the early 20th century, it's a blend of Gothic, Manueline, and Renaissance styles. Explore its lush gardens and don't miss the Chapel of the Holy Trinity with its secret initiation well.
# Monserrate Palace, is indeed renowned for its exotic gardens and eclectic architecture. Constructed in the 19th century, it was commissioned by Sir Francis Cook, an English millionaire, and completed in the 1850s. The palace's design blends various architectural styles, including Gothic, Indian, and Moorish influences, making it a distinctive attraction in Sintra's UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
# Cabo da Roca: Europe's westernmost point. Spectacular cliffs, panoramic ocean views, unforgettable sunsets. A must-visit for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
# One of the most famous visiting point in Cascais is Boca do Inferno in English (Hell´s Mouth) is a mesmerizing natural wonder, shaped by the relentless sea over time. It is believed that formerly this place was a cave and it now forms an open pit with a striking arch where seawater rushes in. During rough seas, the crashing waves create a unique and captivating sound. Visitors can admire the scenery from above or venture down a path for closer views of the rocky coast.
As your day of exploration comes to an end, relax and enjoy the stunning coastal views of Estoril on our journey back to Lisbon. Get ready for an adventure you'll never forget!
